Residents get a slice of fun at Northamptonshire care home
Residents and staff at Elm Bank care home in Kettering, run by Barchester Healthcare, came together to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of creativity, conversation and delicious food as they got involved in a fun pizza-making activity on the Blossom Trail community.

The chef prepared the dough and the residents on the Blossom Trail Community rolled up their sleeves, with a fantastic selection of toppings to choose from, residents were encouraged to get creative. Residents were able to make their very own pizza’s just the way they liked them, the activity provided plenty of opportunity for discussion, sharing memories and making individual choices.
Activities Co-ordinator, Tina said: “There was a real sense of achievement, and for our residents living with dementia this hands-on experience offered a wonderful sensory activity. Residents were able to feel the dough and handle different ingredients, and it encouraged meaningful engagement in a really relaxed and enjoyable setting.”

General Manager, Larisa Bledea, said: “It is really important for us as a home to offer activities that are designed to promote choice, purpose and enjoyment whilst at the same time create opportunities for social connection and meaningful experiences. The pizza making afternoon was fantastic, and there was a real sense of anticipation when the pizzas went in to the oven, and the residents hard work certainly paid off as they all sat down to enjoy their freshly made pizzas for tea.”
