Opposition view: Cobblers draw 'feels like a defeat' for Accy boss

Accrington manager John Doolan admitted Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Northampton ‘felt like a defeat’ after Elliott List’s stoppage-time equaliser.

Accy dominated large swathes of the game and could easily have been home and dry well before List’s late heroics. Charlie Warren scored early but missed chances were punished as Cobblers snatched a last-gasp point.

“We should have won and we should have seen it out,” said Doolan. “We had enough chances to see the game out but we didn’t take them. We took one, and it was a great goal, but unfortunately the opponent is always in the game at 1-0.

“I’m disappointed because it feels like a defeat. We keep the unbeaten run going but you’ve got see that out and you’ve got to take the three points.

““It’s just a goal-kick from the goalkeeper and there’s a little nick on the shot to take it away from Louie (Moulden). The lads are feeling down.

“It’s not for the want of trying. If they weren’t getting into the right areas and if we didn’t have those patterns of play, you’d be concerned, but you can see they are trying and they’re doing everything for the club.

“You want to win games and we always set out to try and win. We should have won today but we have to move onto the next one.”
