Stoke Park, near Stoke Bruerne, is a historic country estate with connections to Henry VIII, Charles I and scientist Sir Isaac Newton.
The property, which is being marketed by estate agents Strutt & Parker and Rightmove, includes a four-bedroom country house, two Grade II* listed pavilions, a separate coach house, extensive gardens, parkland and woodland.
According to the listing, the estate's history stretches back to the 13th century, when the grounds formed part of a medieval deer park.
Henry VIII acquired the land in 1541 and is said to have hunted there with Anne Boleyn.
The estate remained in royal ownership until 1629, when Charles I granted it to Sir Francis Crane, who commissioned an impressive country house believed to have been designed by celebrated architect Inigo Jones.
The original building was regarded as England's first country house constructed in the Italian Palladian style.
Charles I visited in 1635, while Sir Isaac Newton spent an extended period at the estate in 1672, writing several letters during his stay.
However, the principal building was destroyed by fire in 1886. Its replacement was subsequently largely demolished following military occupation during the Second World War.
Today's main house dates from the 1890s and features four bedrooms, a drawing room with open fireplace, library, study and kitchen with wood burner.
The historic west pavilion, formerly used as a ballroom and library, has more recently hosted weddings and events.
Meanwhile, the east pavilion was modernised in 2024 and provides additional accommodation, including two bedrooms.
A detached Grade II listed coach house offers another three bedrooms and is currently occupied under a tenancy agreement.
Outside, the estate boasts approximately 86 acres of parkland and 20 acres of woodland, including a secluded lake.
There are also formal gardens, orchards, a walled garden, traditional stables and a lily pond with fountain.
The River Tove forms the southern boundary of the parkland.
The estate has been owned by the current family since 1954 and is being offered for sale as a whole.
Stoke Park is situated approximately three miles from Towcester, with Northampton and Milton Keynes accessible via the A508.
