School celebrates ‘academic excellence’ after topping Northamptonshire rankings
‘The greatest credit belongs to our students’
Staff and students at Northampton School for Girls are celebrating statistics which show the school is the highest ranking in the area.
Statistics by the Department for Education show the school on Spinney Hill Road is top of the table for secondary schools based on this year’s provisional attainment eight results. The figures are based on pupils’ results in up to eight GCSEs.
The average national score was 46.2, but Northampton School for Girls achieved 59.2, while Northampton School for Boys scooped 59.

Wootton Park School achieved 54.7, and Northampton Academy received a score of 53.3.
Headteacher, Cristina Taboada-Naya welcomed the results. She said: “I am delighted Northampton School for Girls has achieved the highest attainment eight score of any state secondary school in West Northamptonshire. Academic achievement has long been a strength of NSG, and these results reflect the consistently high standards and ambition of our school community.
“The greatest credit belongs to our students, whose hard work and determination has secured them the success they deserve. Their success also reflects the expertise and dedication of our staff and the support of families, which I am immensely grateful for.
“I believe strongly that academic excellence and inclusion belong together. We want every student to be known as an individual, supported well and challenged to achieve highly. I am immensely proud of our students and everything they have accomplished.”
The results come after the school saw the best GCSE grades in its history, with 217 grade nine scores across the curriculum. It meant nearly one in ten GCSE results were the highest grade possible.
