Northampton logistics firm employees fear job losses after company announces Corby move

‘Driving would be a significant cost’

Employees at a Northampton logistics firm say they fear for their jobs after the company announced it was set to move location.

Ceva Logistics is relocating from its site in Brackmills Industrial Estate to Rockingham next year.

But employees fear the some 25-mile distance will result in job losses due to the long journey they claim they will have to make.

An employee who contacted the Chronicle and Echo, but did not wish to be named, said: “We are now facing over 100 job losses as Ceva has decided to move.

“There is no public transport to Rockingham except a two-hour journey and 20-minute walk, and driving would be a significant cost.

“Consultation regarding the relocation has been far from reasonable. Transport like a shuttle service has been refused. The consultation so far has left us feeling Ceva would rather us not join them at the new site.”

But Ceva says it plans to transfer all its 144 employees from the Brackmills site, if suitable to its staff.

A spokesman said: “At Ceva Logistics we continuously evaluate our operations, organisational structure and our locations, as well as the solutions we provide to our customers, adapting to market requirements to ensure our sustainable growth.

“As part of this approach, we have decided to relocate from our Northampton Brackmills site to a new facility at Rockingham, in Northamptonshire. The move, scheduled for Q2 in 2027, is expected to involve the transfer of all 144 current employees.

“However, if relocation is not suitable for individual employees, we will consult with affected colleagues and their representatives, as appropriate, and explore alternative options in line with our legal obligations and company policies.”
