Pauline Quirke Academy to open in Daventry, with free taster day for budding thespians
A new performing arts academy for young people is set to open in Daventry.
The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts will hold sessions every Saturday for four to 18-year-olds at Parker E-ACT Academy.

It will include classes in musical theatre, comedy, drama, film and television for those aged six to 18, and the ‘poppets’ class for ages four to six, focusing on play and storytelling.
There will also be a free open day on Saturday September 19 for those interested in finding out more.
The academy was founded by the popular Birds of a Feather actress and now has more than 200 locations across the country, including one in Rugby.
The academy will be headed up by Olivia Maddock, who spent eight years running an independent theatre school alongside teaching performing arts, English and supporting children with special educational needs. She has also worked at other Pauline Quirke Academies, including running the Rugby group.
Olivia said: “After the success of Rugby, it felt like the perfect time to expand into Daventry. We've had interest from families in the area for some time, and I'm excited to bring the same high-quality performing arts training, supportive environment and opportunities to even more young people.
“Performing arts is about so much more than singing, acting and dancing. It's about building confidence, resilience, communication skills and lifelong friendships. I want every child who walks through our doors to feel encouraged to be themselves, try something new and leave each week believing in what they can achieve.
“We can't wait to welcome more families into our community and watch our students grow both on and off the stage.”
Sessions for older children take place every Saturday from 9.30am to 12.45pm, with ‘Poppets’ classes from 9.30am to 11am.
During the academy’s first year students will work towards live performances, while also taking part in national projects, workshops and events.
