Two Halloween parties in Northampton descended into chaos and closed down after hundreds of young people turned up with reports of violence and antisocial behaviour
Police were called to two separate Halloween parties at community centres in Northampton with one angry resident claiming it was a ‘hell of a night’ with reports of verbal abuse, ‘brutal’ violence and teenagers urinating in gardens.
One party was closed down Milton Malsor Village Hall on Friday evening and a second on Saturday evening at Grange Park Community Centre with police called to both.
Residents reported hundreds of uninvited people turning up to both events which had been privately booked – sending the parties into chaos with reports of antisocial behaviour in the surrounding areas.
Residents in Milton Malsor reported being verbally abused while young people were seen urinating in people’s gardens.

In Grange Park there were reports of violence on surrounding streets, described as ‘brutal’.
At 10.15pm on Friday the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team issued an ‘urgent’ message on social media which read: “Parents and guardians of children attending the Halloween Party at Milton Malsor Community Hall, Northampton are requested to make their way to the venue immediately to collect their children.
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
Apologetic organisers, who arranged the ‘small’ teenage party with good intentions, closed the party when it began to get out of control and contacted police after around 400 people turned up after word had spread on social media.
A Milton Malsor resident said: “The village and I too had hell of a night from it. Sounds like we all had a horrid night that was quiet scary for all.
“Had abuse hurled at me personally on my doorstep, kids at the windows and my dog scared to death.
"Other families in the surround’s also affected too. Worried for their kids and themselves. Sights their children shouldn’t have witnessed, including girls weeing in their gardens pants down in hedges, on driveways and gardens and worried to be having to go outside.”
The following evening, police were also called to Grange Park Community Centre in School Lane where a private Halloween party had been organised for a group of 14 year olds.
The event was disrupted when more than 200 teenagers unexpectedly turned up to the venue.
On Sunday morning Grange Park Parish Council said: “Last night, a private Halloween party for 14-year-olds being held at Grange Park Community Centre was disrupted when a large group of over 200 young people arrived at the venue, attempting to gain entry after details of the party had been circulated on social media.
“Sadly, the situation escalated to the point where the Halloween party had to be closed down just 30 minutes after it had started, causing huge disappointment for those who had organised and attended the event.
“The disruption also affected a separate private family gathering taking place at the Community Centre, which was completely unrelated to the Halloween party.
“Police attended the scene and dispersed the large gathering. We would like to thank the officers for their assistance in bringing the situation under control.”
The parish council, which urged people not to share information about parties on social media, thanked staff members and extended team who stepped into help, faced with an ‘extremely challenging and unexpected situation’.
One resident said: “I’ve seen the videos of the police trying to stop what was going on, I’ve also seen videos of the kind of children that they were dealing with, it’s absolutely shocking I feel sorry for the children that were attacked by others in the street - it’s brutal, terrible violence being used, the poor child that was having the party and the effort that went into it ruined by others most of the kids were not even from Grange Park that turned up!”
Northamptonshire Police have been contacted for comment.
