Northampton businesses urged to offer discounts and deals during Purple Flag Month

Northampton town centre businesses are being encouraged to offer discounts and special promotions as part of a month-long celebration of the town’s evening economy.

Northampton Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) is inviting venues to take part in Purple Flag Month throughout October.

The campaign will celebrate businesses which make up Northampton’s evening and night-time economy, with restaurants, bars and other venues encouraged to get involved.

Businesses can put forward special offers designed to encourage more residents and visitors to spend time in the town centre.

These could include discounts on food and drink, special menus, family or group deals, activities, entertainment and other promotions.

The BID is also planning to visit participating venues to take photographs of staff with the Purple Flag, which will then be shared across its social media channels.

Northampton holds Purple Flag accreditation, which recognises towns and cities for providing a safe, welcoming and well-managed evening and night-time economy.

The accreditation covers factors including safety, entertainment, accessibility and the variety of attractions available to people visiting after 5pm.

Northampton BID said it wanted Purple Flag Month to showcase the businesses which contribute to the town’s evening economy and encourage people to explore and support local venues.

Businesses interested in taking part are being asked to provide details of their proposed offer, the dates it will be available and any terms and conditions.

Those wanting to arrange a Purple Flag photo opportunity can also register their interest.

Businesses can contact Northampton BID at [email protected] to take part.
