FA CUP DRAW: Cobblers given away tie in first round

Cobblers have been drawn away to York City in the first round of the FA Cup.

The two teams, who both play in League Two, only faced each other last weekend, drawing 1-1 at the LNER Community Stadium. Ollie Pearce’s header cancelled out Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh’s early strike.

The first round proper will be played around the weekend of November 6th/7th/8th, with an exact date to be confirmed in due course.

Northampton have lost in the first round in each of the last six seasons, including last year’s 3-1 defeat at Oldham Athletic.

The FA Cup first round proper draw took place earlier this evening live on TNT Sports. Hosted by Matt Smith, the draw was made by Martin Keown and Fara Williams.
