Beautiful Northamptonshire woodland ranked among top 20 in UK to enjoy autumn colours
A Northamptonshire woodland has been named among the UK's top 20 most colourful places to enjoy an autumn walk.
Everdon Stubbs, near Daventry, has secured 13th place in a national ranking of woodlands offering some of the best displays of autumn colours.
The research, carried out by holiday provider Away Resorts, analysed 70 natural and semi-natural woodlands open to the public across the UK.
Each location was ranked according to the variety of six tree groups known for their autumn colours – maple, cherry, rowan, beech, larch and whitebeam.

Everdon Stubbs was the only Northamptonshire woodland to feature in the top 20, making it a destination for residents hoping to enjoy the changing colours of the season.
The research also explored which trees are most popular on social media, with cherry trees attracting 654,000 Instagram posts, followed by maple trees with 242,000 and beech trees with 211,000.
A separate survey of 3,000 people by Away Resorts found that 70 per cent considered the sound of leaves rustling in the wind one of the most relaxing natural experiences.
Kate Watts, spokesperson for Away Resorts, said: "Autumn is the perfect time to take some time for yourself, reset and reconnect with nature.
"After the brightness, busyness and sensory overload of summer, there's something calming about the softer colours, cold air and familiar sounds of the season."
She added that spending time outdoors offered people an opportunity to disconnect from everyday pressures, relax and recharge while enjoying nature with family and friends.
