Family hairdressing team celebrates one year since village location takeover after 18 years in former spot
A family hairdressing team is celebrating one year since taking over a new village location, following 18 years in their former Northampton spot.
Laurie Wawrzesta runs The Hair Shop in Spratton, having previously been the face of Gogo Hair on Kingsley front for approaching two decades.
She jumped at the opportunity to relocate the business to Spratton, which is the village she grew up in and now lives, particularly as the centre of Northampton is increasingly saturated with salons and barber shops.
Laurie took over the existing village salon, which has a great history as the previous owner ran it for around four decades, and gave it a new identity as The Hair Shop.

She has successfully taken over a well-established part of the Spratton community and hairdressing is a family affair for Laurie. Both her nan and mum were hairdressers and she followed in their footsteps.
Laurie’s brother Alex Wawrzesta is a barber and they work alongside each other at The Hair Shop, so this profession really does run in the family.
The Hair Shop celebrated its year milestone on October 1, with a mixture of former Gogo Hair customers that followed Laurie over, the Spratton regulars and fresh faces supporting the venture.
The family-friendly and family-run salon offers appointments and walk-ins across hairdressing and barbering. They are praised as reasonably priced and welcoming to people of all ages, with services to suit all needs.

“It’s a completely different experience in a village compared to a town,” Laurie told the Chronicle & Echo. “Kingsley did have a good community feel but the place has changed. We’d love to stay a successful business and continue what we’re doing. We want to keep providing.”
