Coordinated by ukactive and delivered by its members, National Fitness Day celebrates the role of physical activity in supporting our physical and mental health.

Each year, an average of 10 million people take part in free activities offered by fitness, leisure and sport facilities across the UK as part of the campaign.

“The theme of this year’s National Fitness Day is ‘Powered by you!” said John Fletcher, Managing Director of Trilogy Active. “We are highlighting that everyone can play their part in getting the nation moving more, from individuals and communities to businesses, schools and hospitals.”

On National Fitness Day 2026 Trilogy Active will be offering:

·       Free Gym/Swim/Sauna Use at Brackmills, Cripps and Duston.

·       Discounted gym membership if taken out on the day.

·       NFD Challenge on our app with chance to win a free PT session.

·       Free trial at their Football Academy at Duston.

“Gyms, pools and leisure centres continue to drive physical activity levels in the UK, with a record 12.2 million people now members of a health and fitness club, according to the UK Health & Fitness Market Report 2026.”

As a health and wellbeing trust, Trilogy Active operates Cripps Recreation Centre, Duston Sports Centre and Brackmills Fitness Club in Northampton, as well as Belper Leisure Centre in Derbyshire and Berzerk Active Play Centres in Northampton, Derby and Birmingham. Trilogy Active also delivers the Holiday Activities and Food Programme in partnership with Northamptonshire Sport and the Amber Valley School Sports Partnership.

Despite the growing popularity and prioritisation of fitness among Britons, significant barriers remain.

A quarter of adults in England are classed as inactive (averaging less than 30 minutes of physical activity a week) – with women, those from lower socio-economic groups and Black and Asian people less likely to be active than others.

By showcasing the accessible and inclusive opportunities to be active available across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, National Fitness Day aims to reach more people than ever and inspire change that lasts well beyond the day.

“National Fitness Day is about showing people across the communities that we represent and across the UK that physical activity is for everyone, regardless of age, background or experience.” John Fletcher continued.

“Today, more people are discovering the enjoyment, connection and rewards of being more active in their daily lives. National Fitness Day is a chance to come together to celebrate being active and also the brilliant work of our local gyms, pools, leisure centres and sports clubs.”
