Northamptonshire Children's Trust Host Open Event in Support of National Adoption Week

People across Northamptonshire who are curious about adoption and would like to find out more are being encouraged to attend a free Adoption Open Evening hosted by Northamptonshire Children’s Trust next week as part of National Adoption Week.

The event will provide a relaxed and informal opportunity for prospective adopters to meet members of the adoption team, learn more about the adoption process, and hear directly from people who have already adopted and experienced the journey themselves.

Adoption can transform the lives of children who need safe, stable and loving homes, but many people are unsure whether adoption is right for them or their family. The Open Evening has been designed to answer questions, challenge misconceptions and help people explore adoption in a supportive environment.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with experienced adoption professionals, gain an understanding of the assessment and matching process, and hear first-hand accounts from adopters about the realities, rewards and challenges of adoption.

Maire Strydom, service manager for adoption at Northamptonshire Children’s Trust said:

“National Adoption Week is a chance to shine a light on the children who are waiting for permanent, loving families and to encourage people to consider whether adoption could be right for them.

“Our Adoption Open Evening is not about signing up then and there, or making any commitments. It is simply an opportunity to find out more, ask questions and hear from people who have been through the process themselves. We know that adoption can feel like a big step, so we want to provide a welcoming space where people can get honest information and explore what adoption could look like for their family.”

The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about adoption, including single people, couples, those with children and those without. Members of the adoption team will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and offer advice.
