The Cherry and Whites racked up a bonus-point 31-7 success against Saints, belying the league position they held going into the game.

Gloucester were sitting 10th, travelling to fifth-placed Saints, but they turned the Gallagher Premiership table on its head.

And Skivington said: "I'm really proud.

"I've said plenty of times this season when we've been on the end of some tough losses, the character in the team is phenomenal.

"We're a work in progress, we're growing but there's one thing that is in place and that's character.

"They will fight hard for each other.

"We're taking things week by week and building every week.

"It's about what we set out to do and our defence was rock solid on this occasion.

"Defence is something we've worked really hard on and in attack we stuck to the plan, which was impressive for me.

"It wasn't ideal conditions but the boys backed their skills and backed what they worked on all week so I was really pleased with that."
