Sam Hoskins update after forward misses Oldham defeat
Chris Hogg is hopeful Sam Hoskins will not be out for too long after the forward missed Tuesday’s game against Oldham.
The 33-year-old had started the previous two matches, scoring against Colchester United, but came off at half-time at Accrington Stanley on Saturday and then did not feature in the squad for Oldham’s visit.

“Hosk just felt something the day before the game,” explained Hogg. “It’s in his hamstring so we’ve had it assessed and we’re waiting for the full details on that. Hopefully it won’t be anything too long-term.”
While Jack Perkins, Nathan Opoku, Ross Fitzsimons, Jack Burroughs and Liam Shaw remain sidelined, Hogg still has a large squad to pick from and that could mean changes ahead of two cup games. Cobblers to go York City for the first round of the FA Cup this weekend before hosting Gillingham in the EFL Trophy next Tuesday.
“Everyone else seems good,” Hogg added. “We’ve dusted them down and checked them and they’ve come through OK.
“We have a good squad so if the training level and competition is right, there will be opportunities for people as we go through the season with suspensions and injuries and different competitions.
“We have another cup game next Tuesday so we will be looking for everyone to contribute.”
