Northampton residents dance through town on silent disco walks
‘It’s a feel-good way to be active’
A fitness class with a difference has seen residents sing and dance their way around Northampton.
Marie Tur launched silent disco walks earlier this year, which sees attendees don a headset and listen to music while heading on a walk with the occasional dance stop.
The sessions have been a big hit so far, with music from the 70s to current chart hits.

They often attract groups of up to 30 people, with sessions previously taking place in Abington Park but now held in the skate park, university and Beckets Park throughout winter.
Organiser Marie, age 48, said: “It’s the best hour of pure fun and happiness. The walks are more of a social thing than who can walk the fastest.
“It’s a feel-good way to be active, get your steps in, enjoy some fresh air and meet new people.”
Marie has been teaching fitness for 14 years, and also holds sessions in schools and for adults and children with special educational needs.
Marie added: “Pop on your led headset and let the music move you. Our playlist is packed with all sorts of tunes to have you singing and dancing your way round Northampton.”
