Opposition view: 'Gutting' for Gloucester to suffer late loss at Saints

George Skivington says it was ‘gutting’ to see his Gloucester side suffer a late defeat at Saints on Saturday afternoon.

But the Cherry and Whites boss was ‘incredibly proud’ of the performance his players produced at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.

George Furbank’s dramatic try in the closing stages sealed a bonus-point 36-32 win for Saints.

Gloucester had flown out of the blocks to lead 12-0 early on and they continued to edge back in front on multiple occasions during a roller coaster encounter.

However, it was the black, green and gold who had the final say as they preserved their unbeaten Gallagher PREM home record.

And Skivington said: "It's gutting, the way it panned out, as we were in a really good position to win it.

"Still, I'm incredibly proud of the boys as we were unbelievable and I take a lot of pride from what we achieved.

"The crowd started booing us when he (Charlie Atkinson) elected to kick that penalty as they knew we had them on the ropes (at 32-31 up late on).

"The game showed potentially where we could be as our game management has improved greatly with both half-backs, Charlie Atkinson and Caolan Englefield, developing really well over the last month."
