List admits he's 'very frustrated' by lack of game-time so far this season
Cobblers forward Elliott List admits he has been ‘very frustrated’ by his lack of game-time this season.
The 29-year-old has started only two games in all competitions - neither in the league - but came off the bench to rescue a point for Town at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

“It’s been very frustrating personally,” admitted List. “Every player wants to play every game, but I know it’s my job as a player to show the manager why I should be playing every week. He gives me ideas in terms of what he wants to see and it’s up to me go out there and implement them.”
List will be hoping he’s done enough to earn a start against Oldham on Tuesday, adding: “Of course I’d like to start, every play wants to start, but me and the manager always speak and I’m sure he’ll let me know what he wants from me.”
Captain Jon Guthrie was delighted to see List rewarded for his perseverance, saying: “It was a brilliant finish. All the subs made an impact but we know what Listy’s all about, he’s got so much pace and he’s such a threat with that ball in behind. I’m really happy for him to finish it the way he did because he’s been working really hard. I’m buzzing for him.”
Cobblers were not at the races in the first half on Saturday and could count themselves somewhat fortunate to still be in the game before their late leveller.
“We were slow to get going,” added List. “If I could put my finger on it and explain exactly why that was, I would. Unfortunately, sometimes that just happens in football. It’s not acceptable, it’s below our standards, but we have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“I feel we’re starting to build a bit of momentum. To talk away with a point after a game where we didn’t play great, that’s what good teams do. As long as we can keep that momentum and keep stepping on the gas, it should be a positive season.”
