Healthcare inspectors rate Northampton GP practice 'good'
“People were treated with kindness and compassion, and staff respected and promoted their privacy and dignity”
A GP practice has been praised by healthcare inspectors who rated its services as ‘good’.
The Care Quality Commission recently visited Park Avenue Medical Centre, which also runs Kings Heath Practice. Across the two sites treatment is provided for some 15,000 patients.
Inspectors found it was ‘good’ across safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led categories.

The report says people were provided with information to make informed decisions, protected from harm and staff understood how to identify and manage risks.
It read: “The practice treated people as individuals and staff were highly effective in ensuring care, support and treatment reflected people's needs and preferences. People were treated with kindness and compassion, and staff respected and promoted their privacy and dignity.
“Services were tailored to meet the needs of the local population and delivered in a way that promoted flexibility, choice and continuity of care. People knew how to provide feedback and were confident it would be listened to and acted upon.
“The practice had taken action to improve access and reduce barriers to care. People received fair and equitable treatment, and the practice worked proactively to address health inequalities through ongoing learning, engagement and service improvement. People were involved in planning their care and understood their choices, including the option to decline or withdraw from treatment.”
Inspectors also flagged the premises and equipment were clean and well-maintained, and staff worked with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for patients.
They also praised the leadership, effective governance to drive improvement, commitment to learning and high staff satisfaction.
