Champions League side plot Northampton raid, Rivals set to announce first deal of window

The transfer window is in full swing, and already we’re seeing plenty of action across the length and breadth of League One.

From done deals to potential managerial replacements to the usual transfer speculation, there’s a whole host of gossip doing the rounds, and it promises to be a busy few weeks.

Northampton Town are set to take a break from the action this weekend, however, with the FA Cup third round meaning that the Cobblers aren’t due to be in action again until Tuesday night, when they face MK Dons in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw when they met in the league at the beginning of December.

Elsewhere in the division, the big question is still, ‘who will replace Joey Barton as Fleetwood Town boss?’.

The usual merry-go-round of names have been linked with the post, but there has been an interesting development recently, with a Premier League legend who has yet to hold a senior managerial post emerging as a surprise frontrunner.

Sunderland are preparing a bid for St. Johnstone left-back Scott Tanser this month. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and is understood to have turned down the offer of a new deal. Barnsley are also said to be keen. (Football Insider)
