Rats abandoned alongside rubbish in alleyway rescued by Northamptonshire animal charity
A Northamptonshire animal rescue charity is appealing for new owners to give a group of rats a second chance after they were discovered abandoned alongside rubbish in an alleyway.
The animals were found inside a discarded box before being taken to Animals In Need, based in Little Irchester, where they are now receiving care.
Staff at the sanctuary have expressed their sadness at the circumstances in which the rats were discovered and are hoping to find them a permanent home.
Annie Marriott, sanctuary manager at Animals In Need, said: "These lovely rats were found dumped in a box in an alley, left with the rubbish.

"It's so sad to think that anyone could leave them like that.
"Thankfully, they're now safe with us at Animals in Need and getting the care they deserve."
Despite their difficult start, the charity hopes the rats will soon be able to settle into a new home with owners willing to provide the attention and care they need.
Annie added: "They've had a pretty awful start but they're safe now and we'd love to find them a kind, loving home where they'll be cared for as they deserve.
"If you think you could offer these little ones a home, please get in touch with Animals in Need to find out more."
Animals In Need has spent 35 years rescuing and rehoming animals across Northamptonshire.
Anyone interested in offering the rats a home can find further information through the charity's website at https://animals-in-need.org/.
