Plans submitted to turn part of popular 18th century Northamptonshire village pub with valley views into a hotel
Plans have been submitted to turn part of a popular Northamptonshire village pub into a hotel.
The Lamport Swan in Lamport could gain 10 hotel bedrooms under proposals submitted by its owner, McManus Pub Co.
The 18th Century pub, on Harborough Road, currently has a restaurant and bar, with the upper floors used for offices and staff accommodation.
The plans would convert the upper floors into 10 bedrooms which would be spread across the first and second floors, with en-suite bathrooms.

A disabled-access bedroom is also proposed on the ground floor.
The proposed opening hours for the pub and hotel are 7am to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and 7am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
A statement submitted with the application says: "The Lamport Swan holds historic value within the local community. The proposed works have been carefully designed to be sympathetic to the building's original fabric. The scheme avoids any major structural interventions, ensuring that the historical integrity of the host building is respected and preserved.
"The proposed change of use at the upper floors of The Lamport Swan represents a highly sustainable and pragmatic adaptation of an existing building. By repurposing underutilised space into commercial hotel rooms, the development will support the ongoing success of a valuable local rural business and provide visitor accommodation to the town."
The plans come more than two years after the Lamport Swan was put up for sale for £495,000.
The pub was marketed by McManus Pub Co in May 2024 as a food-led country pub and restaurant.
Despite being advertised for sale, the pub remains in McManus Pub Co's ownership.
The 2024 sales listing said the had space for more than 130 diners, two gardens overlooking the valley and a car park for around 20 vehicles.
It was also described at the time as having been extensively modernised while retaining its historic character.
The pub is close to the Lamport Circular Walk, which takes in the surrounding Northamptonshire countryside.
McManus Pub Co has been contacted for comment.
A target decision date has been set for October 30 by West Northants Council.
