'Open soon': Signage suggests new plans for former Thackerays store in busy Northampton street
Signage has appeared at the former Thackerays store on a busy Northampton street, suggesting a new venue could ‘open soon’.
Signs outside the former boutique on Wellingborough Road suggest the empty premises could become a European supermarket.
The signage features the name “Traditia”, a Romanian flag and references to a butchers and bakery. It also says “open soon”.
The site was most recently home to Flannels, which closed in June 2026, less than two years after opening.

The designer retailer took over the premises in autumn 2024, following the closure of Thackerays, which had traded in Northampton since 1972.
The historic building dates back to Northampton’s Victorian boot and shoe manufacturing era.
The building is currently empty following Flannels’ closure.
