This newspaper has partnered with the Irchester-based Animals in Need charity to help find all of their rescue dogs loving homes in the New Year.
Charity boss Annie Marriott said: "When people adopt a rescue, they save two dogs: the one they bring home and the one that gets the empty kennel. Their lives often depend on it. All our dogs are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, parasite-treated, and come with four weeks of free insurance, a session with dog behaviourist Nathan Watson, and rescue support for their entire lives.
"If you're interested in welcoming one of our dogs into your home, please email [email protected]. We always conduct a home check and cannot rehome dogs to families with children under five years."
Please visit the Animals in Need website to check the full adoption guidelines and rules around rehoming a rescue dog.
Below are the dogs needing rehoming, with descriptions provided by Annie.

9. Edward
Edward is a handsome one-year-old Boxer cross who joined us from the pound. Full of energy and enthusiasm, he will need an active home with a patient family willing to commit to ongoing training. Edward should be fine to live with children over the age of 16 years, but we are not yet sure how he feels about other animals, so he would likely do best in a home without other pets until we can assess him further. With the right guidance and an active lifestyle, Edward will make a loving and devoted companion for the right family. Photo: AIN

10. Sandy
Sandy is a beautiful Boxer/Bully cross with a wonderful personality. She’s an incredibly special dog—slightly shy at first, but once you’ve earned her trust, she’s happy to play and bond. She enjoys playing with a ball, either on her own or with you, and has a lovely, gentle nature, though she can be a bit reserved. Sandy travels well, but she can be strong on the lead, so she would benefit from a home where her walking is managed with care. She would be best suited to an experienced home, ideally with no children younger than teenagers. Sandy can be reactive around other dogs, so a pet-free environment or one with careful introductions to other dogs would be ideal. If you’re an experienced dog owner looking for a loyal companion who may need a little time to warm up, Sandy could be the perfect fit. Photo: AIN

11. Dylan
Dylan, with his stunning stripes and super-friendly but laid-back attitude, would be a perfect addition to any home. He takes everything in his stride and enjoys the simple things in life – leisurely strolls, lounging in the sun, and the occasional snack! He is brilliant with people and other dogs, currently kennel-sharing with a diva, and they are the best of friends. Dylan is helping her build her confidence, showing just how kind and gentle he is. He is super-clean in his kennel and has no accidents. He walks nicely on the lead and is used to wearing a muzzle, which is purely a precaution due to his background as an ex-racer. If you’re looking for a calm, friendly companion who enjoys the quieter things in life, Dylan could be the perfect match for you! Photo: AIN

12. Diva
Diva is a sweet but shy girl who is a little nervous of the world. She’s looking for a patient family who can help her continue to build her confidence. Although she can be timid at first, she loves people and enjoys a good cuddle. Diva gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would likely benefit from living with a gentle but confident dog to help her feel more secure. She is currently kennel-sharing with Dylan, and they have become great companions. Diva walks really well on the lead and, like Dylan, wears a muzzle as a precaution due to her background as an ex-racer. She is very clean in her kennel and has no accidents. If you have the time, patience, and experience to help Diva grow in confidence, she will reward you with endless love and affection. Photo: AIN
