This newspaper has partnered with the Irchester-based Animals in Need charity to help find all of their rescue dogs loving homes in the New Year.
Charity boss Annie Marriott said: "When people adopt a rescue, they save two dogs: the one they bring home and the one that gets the empty kennel. Their lives often depend on it. All our dogs are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, parasite-treated, and come with four weeks of free insurance, a session with dog behaviourist Nathan Watson, and rescue support for their entire lives.
"If you're interested in welcoming one of our dogs into your home, please email [email protected]. We always conduct a home check and cannot rehome dogs to families with children under five years."
Please visit the Animals in Need website to check the full adoption guidelines and rules around rehoming a rescue dog.
Below are the dogs needing rehoming, with descriptions provided by Annie.

5. Mack
Mack is a cheeky little chap, possibly a Cairn Terrier cross. He’s friendly with people and would make a great addition to a family. However, he cannot live with other pets and is reactive to other dogs when out walking, so this will need some work. Mack loves toys, but they need to be sturdy, as he tends to destroy them if they’re not. Despite his active nature, given his age, he also loves snuggling up for a cuddle and will happily settle down for some quality time with his humans. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate companion who enjoys both playtime and quiet moments, Mack could be the perfect fit! Photo: AIN

6. Isla
Isla is a lively character looking for a breed-experienced home. Her new family will need to be active and committed to taking her to training classes, as she has little to no understanding of commands and needs to learn how to walk nicely on a lead. She is a friendly girl and gets along well with other dogs, although she doesn’t quite believe in personal space! Isla will need to be on a grain-free, fish-based diet to prevent the common issues associated with allergies. She would be fine living with sensible, dog-savvy children who can provide her with the structure and guidance she needs. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion and are willing to invest time into her training, Isla could be the perfect match for you! Photo: AIN

7. Coco
Coco is a super-sweet girl who loves everyone she meets and will make a fantastic family dog. She is friendly and affectionate, but she will need ongoing training as she currently has little to no understanding of even basic commands. Coco is on a grain-free diet to prevent any issues typical of her breed. She seems to get along well with other dogs and may benefit from living with a calm, resident dog who can help guide her. She has not been cat-tested, so a home without cats would be ideal. If you're ready to commit to her training and provide a loving, structured home, Coco will undoubtedly become a loyal and joyful companion. Photo: AIN

8. Cherry
Cherry is a pretty one-year-old female crossbreed, possibly a mix of Doberman and Lurcher. She is an energetic girl and will thrive in an active family who can keep her busy and engaged. Cherry would be fine living with older teenagers but has a very high prey drive, so she is currently being trained to walk with a muzzle and must be kept on a lead at all times. She is fine with dogs of similar size and has shared a kennel with other dogs, but she cannot live with smaller dogs, cats, or any other pets due to her prey drive. If you have an active household and are looking for a loyal, energetic companion, Cherry could be the perfect addition to your family. She will require ongoing training and management, but in return, she will offer plenty of love and excitement. Photo: AIN
