Firefighters deliver water rescue training at popular Northamptonshire attraction
Staff at a popular Northamptonshire visitor attraction have received specialist training to help them respond safely to water emergencies.
Eleven members of staff at The Chester House Estate completed a free Waterside Responder course delivered by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Prevention Team and Blue Watch from Wellingborough Fire Station.
The training is designed to give staff the skills and confidence to identify water-related risks, prevent incidents and assist people who get into difficulty.
Participants also learned how to communicate effectively with the emergency services during an incident.

As part of the practical training, staff gained hands-on experience using throwlines during a realistic rescue scenario alongside the River Nene.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service described the training as a “great example of partners working together to help keep visitors safe”.
