Free Northampton mental health festival returns on World Suicide Prevention Day
The University of Northampton is set to host a free event bringing together organisations, charities and community groups to promote positive mental health and wellbeing.
Headfest will return for its fifth year on Thursday, September 10, coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day.
The event will run from 10am to 3pm at the Learning Hub at the university’s Waterside Campus and is open to members of the public as well as students and staff.
Visitors will be able to find out more about mental health and wellbeing services available locally, take part in interactive sessions and access practical support and advice.

Organisations taking part will include Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT), while activities will include meditation, breath work and sessions exploring effective mental health strategies.
There will also be opportunities to connect with community support services and access resources and guidance aimed at maintaining positive mental health.
Lisa Pearson, trustwide suicide prevention lead for NHFT and co-organiser of Headfest, said: “World Suicide Prevention Day provides an important opportunity to come together, raise awareness and encourage conversations about mental health.
“Headfest is about celebrating the positive work taking place across our communities, helping people connect with support and reminding everyone that they are not alone.
“We are delighted to welcome local organisations and community groups to the University for a day focused on wellbeing, hope and positivity.”
No booking is required and people interested in attending can simply turn up on the day. Admission is free.
