Northampton businesses encouraged to welcome dogs as new pet-friendly window stickers launched

Businesses across Northampton are being encouraged to welcome customers and their four-legged companions as part of a new initiative to promote dog-friendly venues.

West Northamptonshire Council has teamed up with Northampton BID to launch new window stickers helping residents and visitors identify businesses where dogs are welcome.

The scheme is being rolled out across Northampton, Brackley and Towcester, with stickers available through Northampton BID and the respective town councils.

Businesses taking part can display the stickers in their windows, making it easier for dog owners to identify places they can visit with their pets.

Organisers hope the initiative will encourage more people to explore local shops and businesses, while supporting the growing popularity of dog-friendly destinations.

Research cited by the organisers suggests 75 per cent of UK dog owners plan to take their pets on holiday, highlighting the potential demand for welcoming venues.

Businesses displaying the stickers can also join an online dog-friendly directory, helping customers discover suitable places across West Northamptonshire.

To take part, Northampton businesses can request a sticker by emailing [email protected].

Once displayed, businesses are encouraged to photograph their sticker and share the image on Instagram using the hashtag #DiscoverNorthamptonshire to be included in the directory.
