Man and puppy need treatment after being attacked by two dogs at Northampton Racecourse
“The owner was off somewhere else and did not care about his dogs or the fact they were attacking someone.”
A dog owner and his puppy are recovering after being attacked by two off-lead dogs at Northampton Racecourse.
The man, who does not wish to be named, was walking his four-month-old golden retriever at around 6pm on Saturday (October 17).
But he was left shocked when two large, long-haired dogs came running towards him and his puppy, who was on the lead.

His girlfriend said: “My partner picked up our dog and she gets jumped at leading to her legs being bitten. My partner was trying to fight off these two dogs jumping up at them both leaving them both injured.
“The owner was off somewhere else and did not care about his dogs or the fact they were attacking someone.”
A woman tried to help by stepping in to take Honey, while the man tried to stop the dogs further attacking the puppy.
But the dogs allegedly then turned on him, leaving cuts and a puncture wound to his hand.

The owner of the two dogs was said to have returned about five minutes later, taking the dogs before walking to his car and driving off.
Honey was rushed to the emergency vets where she underwent treatment, but she is still feeling the effects of the attack and is now scared to go outside.
The man also had to attend hospital for treatment.
The man’s partner added: “I rushed my puppy to the emergency vets where she received treatment costing me £233, due to a reckless dog owner!

“Honey is doing much better. She still has a cone on her head and is still a bit afraid to go outside, which we will have to work on. She is still on antibiotics and pain killers but will soon be finished.
“Light needs to be shed on this situation as it cannot happen again.”
Northamptonshire Police is calling on anyone with information to get in touch.
