Northamptonshire RSPB Group has much to offer!!

The Mid Nene Local Group of the RSPB is a very welcoming, and encouraging group, long established but would love to see some new faces - and would offer a warm welcome to indoor meetings, coach outings and events. We offer a very interesting and varied programme to anyone in Northamptonshire and beyond who is keen to engage with nature, conservation, birds and mammals.

We are pleased to be offering a coach outing to the fabulous Essex Wildlife Trust Abberton Reservoir on Sunday 15th November. This is a nationally important body of water for overwintering ducks, geese, swans and waders, where around 40,000 birds can be seen. Recent sightings include good numbers of Spoonbill and this special site also attracts stunning raptors. Great opportunities to engage with nature, enjoy wild spaces, bird-watch, and photograph. Come and join some friendly like minded people!

The regular coach outings are £23 per person, on a comfortable coach. We offer two pick ups - Raunds Square at 8am, and Thrapston Market Place at 8.10am, free parking at both of these places. We offer a whole day out, usually returning at 4pm for the journey back to Northants. These are very friendly trips, and you are welcome to spend the day at your leisure on site, or join with small groups of members who will happily share their knowledge and enthusiasm.

Our indoor meetings in The Saxon Hall, Raunds (NN9 6LT) provide an accessible and modern place within which to listen to some brilliantly enthusiastic and infomative speakers.

We have been enthralled by David Lindo (The Urban Birder of BBC fame) in recent times, and we are always blown away by the talks and presentations we receive from our visiting speakers.

Our next indoor meeting is on Thursday 19th November, from 7.30pm. The meetings are open to all, you do not have to be a member to come along. The meetings are £4. per person, and within the entrance price you will not only get to hear an interesting illustrated talk, but you will also be provided with tea/coffee and biscuits during an interval.

These are great evenings for anyone interested in wildlife, nature, birds, mammals and conservation.

Our group is now in its 51st year, and we are passionate about keeping it going into the future.

It is free to be a member, anyone interested can obtain more information from our website or facebook page. For anyone wishing to receive a programme for 2027, please contact Mid Nene:
