Northampton musician makes heartfelt appeal to save upcoming gig after just 13 tickets sold

A Northampton musician has made a heartfelt appeal for support after revealing he has sold just 13 tickets for his upcoming headline show – leaving him fearing the event could be cancelled.

Singer Jamie Benkert is due to perform at ENCORE, formerly Auntie Ruth’s, in Northampton on Saturday, November 7, but has admitted he is worried about whether the concert can go ahead without more ticket sales.

The independent artist, who has performed more than 500 shows over the past 15 years, has taken to Facebook to ask music lovers across the town to get behind him.

Jamie said: “I’m going to be completely honest with you. We’ve only sold 13 tickets for my headline show on Saturday 7th November.

“And with less than two weeks to go, I’m genuinely worried we might not be able to make this show happen.”

The musician hopes to recreate the atmosphere of his previous headline concert, which attracted an audience of 250 people.

However, he explained that selling tickets in advance is essential to covering the costs of staging the performance, including paying his live band.

He said: “As an independent artist, every ticket makes a huge difference. It helps me plan, pay my incredible band and make sure we can put on the show you deserve.

“I’ve performed over 500 shows in the last 15 years, and if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s put on a GREAT night of live music!

“My last headline show brought 250 people together, and it was absolutely incredible. I’d love nothing more than to experience that again.”

The November 7 concert will feature a full live band, including drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and backing vocals, alongside a support act.

Jamie, who has recently returned home after travelling, said he is now putting everything into ensuring the event goes ahead.

He stressed that the concert has not been cancelled, but warned that its future depends on more people purchasing tickets.

He added: “This is about more than just a gig. I want to bring people together, share my music and create a night we’ll all remember.”

Doors open at 7pm, with live music running from 7.30pm until 10pm.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £10 for under-18s, who must be accompanied by someone aged 18 or over.

Tickets are available through See Tickets.
