An independent craft beer bar has reopened under new ownership.

The Gorilla, also known as Beer Guerrilla, is now being run by Dan, Richard and Jack, who are associated with Roman Way Brewery, based at Weedon depot.

The pub first opened in 2016 and has now entered a new chapter, with the new team saying it wants to build on what has made the independent craft beer bar popular with customers.

Announcing the takeover on Facebook, Roman Way Brewery said: “We're delighted to share the new ownership of The Gorilla on Wellingborough Road.

“For those who know and love Beer Guerrilla, don't worry – we're not turning it into another Roman Way taproom!

“The Gorilla will remain an independent craft beer bar, with a fantastic and constantly changing selection of beers from breweries near and far.

“We're looking forward to building on what made the place special, introducing a few new ideas and, most importantly, welcoming the community back.

The new owners welcomed customers back last week, with the bar holding a soft reopening on Thursday, October 22, before its first weekend under the new team.

In a separate Facebook post after the opening weekend, the owners thanked customers for their support.

They said: “It’s been brilliant seeing so many of you who love The Gorilla, meeting new people and getting to know the fantastic community that’s grown around this little bar.”

They added: “We’re not here to reinvent the wheel, just keep the great craft beer flowing and hopefully bring a few exciting things along the way.”

The team said it wanted to maintain the bar's focus on craft beer while bringing in some new ideas.

The selection includes beers from breweries such as Thornbridge, Braybrooke, Vault City, Full Circle and Flint x Deya, with new options expected to be added regularly.

The owners also said customers would be able to try beers before buying them.

The takeover follows a period of uncertainty about the venue's future.

The Gorilla has a 4.8 out of five rating on Google, based on around 280 reviews.
