Designed for anyone who is new to exercise or just who may want a gentle, fun way to get moving, the free walks are all about enjoying the outdoors, meeting friendly faces and taking small steps towards being a healthier individual.

“I am genuinely delighted that we can celebrate 8 years of our Wellbeing Walk at Duston Sports Centre.” said John Fletcher, Managing Director of Trilogy Active. “Over the years, our volunteer walk leaders and walkers have shared countless miles, conversations, friendships and moments of support.”

As a health and wellbeing trust, Trilogy Active manages and leads the programme and also operates Brackmills Fitness Centre, Cripps Recreation Centre and Duston Sports Centre in Northampton, Belper Leisure Centre in Derbyshire and Berzerk Active Play Centres in Atherstone, Northampton, Derby and Birmingham.

The Wellbeing Walks are open to everyone and takes place at 1.30pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from Duston Sports Centre in Northampton.

“Wellbeing walks have got me out and walking, taking my camera, taking photographs and it always make me feel better if I’m feeling down” one of the members of the group told Trilogy on the 8th Anniversary walk that recently took place around the village.

“Over the years there has just been more and more people and now we are at 25 people plus every week and we adapt the walk to suit anyone that wants to join us.” another member of the group shared on a social media video that was made to mark the occasion.

Research shows that walking is often called one of the best forms of preventive medicine because it supports nearly every system in the body without requiring special equipment or high-impact strain.

The UK government and the NHS Live Well project view walking as a free, low-impact, and essential form of physical activity that significantly improves both physical and mental health.
