CRICKET SPECIAL: T20 glory for Stony Stratford as champions Finedon get off to a winning start
Stony Stratford are the Northants Cricket League T20 champions.
On a scorching hot Sunday at Geddington Cricket Club, Stony emerged from Finals Day as the winners, seeing off Kislingbury Temperance by 67 runs in the final to lift the trophy.

They had earlier beaten Finedon Dolben by four wickets in their semi-final, with Kislingbury having seen off Peterborough Town by eight runs
In the final, Stony were always in control once they posted a big score of 177 for six from their 20 overs.

Charlie Oldershaw led the way as he hammered 57 from just 38 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, and support came from Sayan Chatterjee (30 from 20) and Heet Ami (24 from 20).
For Kislingbury, Northants all-rounder Gus Miller took two for 33, while there was also a wicket apiece for County youngster Tiaan Louw and Ben Swingler.
Kisl strugged from the off with the bat, and although Harry Anderson chipped in with 42 not out from 45 balls it was never enough as they fell well short on 110 for six.
Chatterjee took two for 11 from three overs and Fahad Hassan two for three from three overs to win it for Stony.

In their semi-final, Chatterjee took another two wickets (2-20) along with Louis Gulliver (2-31) and Andy Marston (2-37), while Steven Plant claimed three for 21 as Finedon were bowled out for 144 in 18.4 overs.
For Finedon, Drew Brierley top scored with 34 from 20 balls and Shaynan Patel made 30 from 32.
Stony's reply wasn't without its stutters, but they got home at 147 for six with 11 balls to spare, mainly thanks to a brilliant 86 not out from just 49 balls from opener Michael Wells.
The other last four clash saw Kislingbury beat Peterborough, who had topped the group stage standings.

Alex Mitchell starred for Kisl, the opener clubbing 79 from 50 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes, and guided his side to 162 for seven, with Harry Penberthy hitting 23 and Miller 21.
For Posh, Jaskaran Singh took three for 37 while there were two wickets apiece for Nick Green and Bashrat Hussain.
Peterborough would have fancied their chances of overhauling that modest total, and opener Green certainly did his bit as he made 81 from 52 balls, but there was little support forthcoming as they were bowled out for 154 with two balls spare to lose by eight runs.
Borough collapsed from 142 for four, losing their last six wickets for just 12 runs.
For Kislingbury, Northants pair Miller (2-14) and Louw (2-29) were along the wickets, along with Shaun Wilkes, who took two for 10.
The Premier Division season finally got underway on Saturday, and there were opening day wins for reigning champions Finedon Dolben, Stony Stratford, Old Northamptonians, Peterborough Town and Overstone Park.
Finedon began the defence of their title in style as they comfortably saw off Geddington by 47 runs at home.
There were runs for Daniel Bendon, who was top-scorer with 61 not out, Drew Brierley (49) and John Bowers (44no) as Finedon posted 225 for five.
That was to prove enough despite another great innings from the in-form Jack Lees, who this time hit 97 of Geddington's reply of 178 all out, with Jack Fuller leading the Finedon attack as he claimed five for 40.
Loddington & Mawsley endured a miserable T20 Championship campaign, and although they produced an improved performance with the bat, they were still on the wrong end of the scoreline as they lost by 60 runs to hosts Peterborough Town.
Nick Green hit 115, Josh Smith 89 and Kyle Medcalf 54 as Posh piled on 310 for seven.
Loddington made a decent fist of making a game of it, as Ryan Hawthorn hit an excellent 102 and James Esler 61, but they fell short at 250 for eight.
There were two century makers in the clash between Rushden & Higham Town and Overstone Park.
Benjamin Sales hit 104 not out and Ram Patel 104 as Overstone Park enjoyed themselves under the hot sun, racking up 332 for three.
That was too many for Rushden, who responded with 239 all out as they were downed by 93 runs
In the runs for Rushden were Ben Paine (53) and Sam Kumar (45), while Luke Phipps snared five for 55 for Park.
Former Northants skipper Alex Wakely hit 43 for Kislingbury Temperance, but it wasn't enough to stop his side losing by 71 runs to Stony Stratford in what was a preview of the following day's T20 final.
Wakely's effort saw his team to 148 all out, but that was well short of Stony's 219 for eight, which was built around Sayan Chatterjee's 55.
With the ball, Northants' Australian seamer Harry Conway took four for 33 for Kisl.
The other game saw Old Northamptonians ease past Oundle Town by five wickets.
Harrison Craig was the main run-getter as Oundle were bowled put for 184, and Harry Vesty then hit 42 to help steer ONs home at 188 for five, Conor Craig ddoing his bit for Oundle, taking four for 29.
Bradley Armer had a day to remember as he hit a huge unbeaten century to help Geddington to a 77-run win over Weekley & Warkton in Division Six.
Armer made hay while the sun shone, hammering a superb 173 not out from just 144 balls as Geddington posted a huge 310 for six in their 45 overs.
Support came from Marc Bell (35) and Liam Redding (26), while Matthew Robinson claimed three for 58 for Weekley.
Weekley made a great start in their reply as they eased to 151 for one, but they couldn't maintain things as they were restricted to 233 for eight.
Main men with the bat for Weekley were Dapinder Pooni with 77 and Nick Dalziel with 69, with Tiaan Raubenheimer taking three for 39.
The win lifts Geddington up to third in the table, as they leapfrogged Loddington & Mawsley IIs who were hammered by 10 wickets by second-placed Towcestrians.
Andy Clark proved too hot for Loddington to handle, bagging six for 13 as the home side were rushed out for 67, with Tows then coasting to 68 without loss to win by 10 wickets.
Barby remain top of the table after they secured a big 170-run win over struggling Thrapston IIs.
Chey Manzella hit 99 and Joel Gleghorn 72 as Barby were bowled out for 281, with James York taking five for 63.
That proved too daunting a total for Thrapston, who were dismissed for 111, with Mayooran Karunakaran running through the batting as he took seven for 26.
It was another bad day for rock-bottom Desborough Town IIs as they suffered a fifth straight defeat, going down by 213 runs to Irthlingborough Town IIs.
Danny Harris (73), Mark Brown (50) and Reece Hudson (46no) were all in the runs as Borough amassed 309 for seven, and Leon Foster then got to work with the ball, bagging six for 20 as Desborough were rolled over for 96.
In the other games, there were wins for St Crispin & Harlestone IIs and Finedon Dolben IIIs.
Crispin were indebted to 53 from Fahad Ahmed as they were restricted to 187 all out against Overstone Park IIIs, with Morgan Fisher snaring four for 17.
That proved to be more than enough to see off Park, who were bowled out for 103 despite an unbeaten 41 from Luca Carlier.
Adam Massey took five for 13 for Crispin.
Finedon eased to a seven-wicket win as they had few problems getting past Yelvertoft's 86 all out.
