After travelling up and down the country to cover the Cobblers over the past 12 months, reporter James Heneghan hands out his own awards for the 2019/20 season...
5. Best goal
Again, there's no shortage of choice. Chris Lines' exquisite volley in the win over Morecambe takes the win though, edging out Scott Wharton's sublime finish against Crewe. Superb technique and timing to blast into the top corner.
6. Biggest surprise
Paul Anderson exceeded expectations after joining on a free transfer, however precious few, bar Keith Curle perhaps, saw Vadaine Oliver becoming such a key player for the Cobblers after joining from Morecambe last summer.
7. Most underrated player
He doesn't grab the headlines like Morton or Goode but Ryan Watson enjoyed an excellent campaign. Started like a train and then finished strongly. Returned a very useful seven goals too, including the crucial opener at Wembley.
8. Rant of the season
"I emphasise the word rugby because it was awful to watch. I wouldn't like to look at that week in, week out. How do you prepare for that? You'd have blood all over the training ground if we tried to replicate what was coming." Photo: Pete Norton
