Lindsey says York have 'learned' from Cobblers draw ahead of FA Cup tie
York City boss Scott Lindsey is preparing for a different type of game when Cobblers visit in the FA Cup on Saturday compared to the league fixture between the two last month.
Town went to the LNER Stadium with a very specific game plan against a York team who like to dominate the ball. Chris Hogg’s side sat off and had just 20 per cent possession in the first half, but they took eight shots to the home side’s none and led 1-0 through Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh.

York’s pressure grew in the second half and they earned themselves a point thanks to Ollie Pearce’s late header. The two sides now meet again in the first round of the FA Cup.
Lindsey said: “Northampton made it difficult for us a couple of weeks ago so we know it’ll be a hard game but we’ve learned from that and hopefully we’ll see an improvement.
“I think it might be a bit of a different game, they sat in and made it difficult for us. They might do that again but, with it being a cup game, they might do something different. We’ll be prepared either way.
“My hardest job at the moment is picking a team because we’ve got a lot of good players and I need to keep everyone happy.”
Lindsey might have to watch the game from the stands following a recent FA charge.
“We’re waiting to see whether it will be Saturday or next week,” he added. “I’ve watched from the stands before and it’s OK. We can have communication with the bench so it won’t be a problem. It can give you a clearer picture of patterns of play and shapes and stuff like that from an elevated view.”
