Hoskins 'really excited' by Cobblers' potential under SAC as Hogg urges Pato to visit every week!

Sam Hoskins says he is ‘really excited’ by Northampton’s potential under the ownership of Sports Alpha Capital after they were officially introduced to Sixfields on Saturday.

The club’s new majority owners, who completed their 70 per cent acquisition at the start of the month, were in attendance for the victory over Colchester. Chief among them was Alexandre Pato, who posed for photos before the game and then spoke to both the players and manager Chris Hogg in the changing room afterwards, and he also interrupted Matty Warhurst’s post-match interview.

"There's a big buzz around the club,” said the young striker. “It's given everyone a lift. They're great people, we've met them, and they've been around the training ground quite a bit. They're in it with us and they're behind us and it's all very positive.

"Pato's a great person to learn off, he obviously had a great career and now he's around the club and that can only be a positive thing. It would be a pleasure if he got his boots back in and we could play up top together - there's not many better people to learn off!”

Hoskins added: "It's obviously really exciting and there's a real good factor around the place. We've won both games Pato's been here so hopefully he'll keep coming! It's exciting times.

"I don't see why this can’t be the start of something special. They've come here with a plan and they'll have their ideas but for us as players and staff, we just have to buy into that and hopefully the good times keep coming - and I want to be part of it.”

Having also attended the victory over Newport in September, Northampton’s only other home win this season, Hogg hopes Pato has more trips to Sixfields in his diary.

He said: "I've said to Pato that he can come every week! He was obviously at the Newport game and we've won again today. I spoke to them briefly afterwards, hopefully they can all see the progress the team has made from the first time they were here.”

The victory lifted Cobblers up a few places in the table.

"We're all buzzing,” added Warhurst. “We were positive going into Tuesday after the win at Grimsby and I felt we played really well but we just didn't get the result.

"But we were hungry to bounce back and I thought we played well and we put our chances away. The team are starting to score more goals and create more chances so we're all feeling positive.”
