FA CUP DRAW: Cobblers drawn against non-league opposition in first-round

Cobblers have been drawn away to non-league Oxford City in the FA Cup first-round.

Oxford, currently managed by former Peterborough, Man City and Luton player David Oldfield, have defeated Royal Wootton Bassett, Tamworth and Weymouth in the competition so far. It is the fourth year in succession they have reached this stage of the FA Cup.

City have had a good start to the National League South season with two wins from their first three league games. Also known as the Hoops, they play their home games on a 3G pitch at Court Place Farm and have never previously played the Cobblers.

First-round ties will be placed across November 6th, 7th and 8th. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this season’s FA Cup prize money has been reduced. Winners of the first round ties will pick up £22,629, compared to £36,000 last season.

The FA also confirmed on Monday that no fans will be allowed to attend any first-round match.
