Cobblers 'still have a long way to go' as in-form Accy present stiff test
Cobblers boss Chris Hogg admits his side ‘still have a long way to go’ until they can start thinking about challenging at the top end of the table.
Town have played well in each of their four league games since the international break, but Hogg is demanding continued and consistent improvement as the season enters its busy middle phase.

“We don’t finish the season in October,” he said. “Whether we’re good, bad or average, it’s about being emotionally calm and understanding where you want to go as a team, as a club and as individuals.
“That ties into the collective and while it has been a bit better, we still have a long way to go if we want to reach where we want to get to.”
Town’s recent improved form, which has seen them pick up seven points from their last four games, will be put to the test at Accrington Stanley this weekend. Accy are just outside the play-offs after a seven-game unbeaten run.
“Accrington are a good side,” added Hogg. “I’ve known John (Doolan) for a while and he’s done a terrific job since taking over. He’s progressed the team really well and they play with lots of energy. They’re unbeaten at home this season so we know the challenge and it’s another one I’m looking forward to.
“I can’t wait to get up there and get to kick-off and see what we can do as a group and as a team. We want to keep pushing our qualities and put our stamp on the game.
“You have to match the opposition as a minimum and then try to overcome them. We understand their strengths but we have strengths as well and it’s up to us to show that.”
Cobblers are also coming off two strong away performances at York and Grimsby.
“It’s about us growing as a group home and away,” Hogg continued. “You have to show certain characteristics in every performance. We want similar things and we want to grow as a team and that’s the case this weekend.
“It’s another chance to grow as a team and keep building steps towards where we want to be. We know the challenge ahead and we’re more than ready for it.”
