Cobblers had 'frank' and 'honest' discussion about poor first half at Accrington
Cobblers boss Chris Hogg said he and his players had a ‘frank’ and ‘honest’ discussion at half-time of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Accrington.
Hogg did not let Elliott List’s stoppage-time equaliser prevent him from offering a typically honest and fair assessment of his side’s first half display, which fell well below expectations.

"That's why I love working with them - they are frank and honest and know exactly what we should have done better in the first half,” said Hogg. “They're really honest.
“But it was massive to stay in the game. That’s been doubted about the club, and we've had discussions about it, but the character and the fight is in there and I've definitely got that. I'll push and fight and do everything I can for this club to make sure we get to where we want to get.
"Accrington away is never easy, you take the point, and the biggest thing now is that we have to and attack Tuesday, and we've already spoken about that in the dressing room. We have to capitalise on this. That's five games where we're building and we want to go again on Tuesday.”
Hogg felt the way his side salvaged a point on Saturday was further evidence that they are heading in the right direction.
"I really do love working with the players and this group of people and I've felt for the last six, seven, eight weeks that there's something growing here,” he added. “The supporters stayed with us until the end and that was special.
“They've come all the way to Accrington, they've payed their hard-earned money and they've not seen their team play particularly well but they've stuck with us and we've got a point.
"It was the flip of Tranmere. We dominate the game and play really well but get beat 1-0. Today, that definitely wasn't the case, but we came out with a point.”
