Northamptonshire animal sanctuary hoping for £5,000 funding boost as charity draw deadline approaches

Online nominations could help bring a welcome £5,000 funding boost to a Northamptonshire sanctuary caring for animals in need.

The public has until Sunday, October 18, to support Animals In Need, based in Little Irchester, near Wellingborough, in a national charity funding initiative.

The sanctuary is seeking nominations for the Benefact Group's Movement for Good programme, which is offering grants specifically to organisations dedicated to animal and wildlife welfare.

Ten charities will each receive £5,000, with the successful organisations selected in a draw during the week beginning October 19.

The winners are due to be announced on Friday, October 23.

Animals In Need is hoping supporters across Northamptonshire will get behind its bid, with every additional nomination increasing its chances of securing one of the grants.

Sanctuary manager Annie Marriott said: “Please take a minute to nominate Animals In Need Northamptonshire, it would mean the world to us.

“This one’s special as it’s specifically animal charities who can be nominated.”

The charity is encouraging residents to spare a moment to complete the online nomination form before the closing date.

Unlike a public vote, the initiative operates as a draw, meaning the number of nominations improves a charity's chances of being selected but does not guarantee success.

Nominations can be made online here.
