Northampton business owner to climb two Welsh mountains in one day for children's mental health charity KidsAid

A Northampton business owner is preparing to climb two Welsh mountains in one day to raise money for a charity supporting children affected by trauma and abuse.

Michael Quinn, who runs M F Quinn Limited, will tackle Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and Pen y Fan in early November to support Northampton-based KidsAid.

The solo endurance challenge involves up to nine hours of hiking, much of it in darkness, and a 140-mile drive between the mountains.

Michael plans to begin climbing Snowdon at 5am before travelling south to Pen y Fan, hoping to complete his second descent by 6.30pm.

The two mountains have a combined height of 6,467ft.

KidsAid, based at Northampton's Doddridge Centre, provides specialist therapy for children affected by trauma, domestic abuse, bereavement and neglect.

Demand for its services has reportedly tripled, with a 26-week course of therapy costing £2,200 per child.

Michael said: “I am taking on an intense winter endurance challenge to support KidsAid, a fantastic charity that provides vital therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced severe trauma, abuse, neglect, and bereavement.”

He added: “Every single penny matters: because I am completely self-funding all of my own fuel, gear, and travel costs for this event, 100% of the funds raised on this page go directly to KidsAid.”

Michael's wife works directly with children, giving the family an understanding of the importance of early intervention.

He hopes his challenge will help fund therapy sessions for vulnerable children.

Donations can be made through his JustGiving page.
