Five friends take on epic 120km challenge across Dartmoor and Exmoor for Maggie’s Northampton

Five determined supporters are preparing to tackle an epic 120km challenge across Dartmoor and Exmoor to raise thousands of pounds for a Northampton cancer support charity.

The group, Ed, Ed, Jake, James and Tom, will embark on the demanding Two Moors Way challenge on Wednesday, October 21, to raise vital funds for Maggie’s Northampton.

Setting off at 5.30am, the five will cross the rugged landscapes of two national parks in a test of endurance, determination and teamwork.

Their efforts have already attracted generous support, with more than £11,000 raised so far and further donations continuing to come in.

The money will help Maggie’s Northampton provide free practical, emotional and psychological support to people living with cancer, alongside their families and friends.

The charity offers a welcoming, non-clinical environment where people affected by cancer can access expert advice, receive emotional support and connect with others facing similar experiences.

Throughout the challenge, Sarah will keep supporters updated on the team's progress, while staff and visitors at Maggie’s Northampton will be following their journey.

Jodie Mutch, centre fundraising manager at Maggie’s Northampton, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Ed, Ed, Jake, James and Tom for taking on this amazing challenge for Maggie’s.

“Walking 120km across Dartmoor and Exmoor is no small undertaking, and the commitment they have shown is truly inspiring.

“Raising more than £11,000 is phenomenal, and the fact that donations are still coming in demonstrates just how much support there is for what they are doing.

“At Maggie’s, we see every day the difference that having somewhere to turn can make when cancer affects your life.

“The money raised will help us continue to provide free support to people with cancer and the people who care about them.

“Our centre visitors are already asking for daily updates, and we will all be following their journey with huge excitement. We are right behind them all the way.”

The five supporters hope their efforts will also raise awareness of the services available at Maggie’s Northampton and encourage others to support the charity's work.
