The volunteers support 51 young people, delivering activities, helping at community events and developing skills including teamwork, confidence and resilience.

The programme is overseen by youth engagement support officer Ed Harvey, who spent five years as a Fire Cadet before becoming a volunteer leader.

He has since spent five years in his current role, supporting young people following a similar path.

Ed said: “Having started out as a Fire Cadet myself, I’ve seen first-hand the difference this programme can make and I’m proud to now be on the other side, guiding young people to become well-rounded, resilient and confident individuals.

“Seeing Cadets develop new skills and succeed in the programme is what makes my job so worthwhile.”

The fire service praised its volunteers for their commitment to helping young people develop valuable life skills and supporting the cadet programme across Northamptonshire.
