New knife amnesty bin installed at Northampton church to help tackle knife crime
A new knife amnesty bin has been installed at a Northampton church, allowing residents to dispose of unwanted knives and bladed items anonymously.
The bin is located at Broadmead Church, Broadmead Avenue, and is available for use 24 hours a day.
Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team announced the installation as part of ongoing efforts to tackle knife crime and serious violence across the town.
The team said people can deposit unwanted knives and other bladed items without identifying themselves or facing questions.

A spokesperson for Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team said the bins play an important role in removing potentially dangerous weapons from communities and improving public safety.
Similar facilities have already been introduced elsewhere across Northamptonshire as part of wider efforts to reduce knife-related violence.
Residents seeking further information or support have been directed to community organisation Off the Streets NN CIC and Northampton Town Council.
The initiative aims to encourage people to surrender unwanted knives safely, helping reduce the number of potentially dangerous weapons in circulation.
