A murder investigation has been launched following a stabbing inside a Northampton home.

The incident happened just after 2.15am today (December 11) at a property in Raeburn Road, Kingsley.An altercation happened inside the address, which resulted in a 33-year-old man sustaining a stab wound.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man died a short time later.

Raeburn Road and Fairfield Road remain cordoned off as police continue investigations and local residents have described the area as 'eerie'.Superintendent Kev Mulligan for Northamptonshire Police said: “This is an exceptionally fast-paced investigation with a lot of enquiries to work through but we are making good progress and I am absolutely committed to bringing the people responsible for this man’s death to justice.

“Specially trained officers are supporting the man’s loved ones at this time and I would kindly ask the media to respect their privacy at this extremely distressing time.

“Please come forward if you have any information about what happened here or if you have any Ring doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage that you think could assist our enquiries."

House-to-house enquiries will also be taking place in the area and residents can expect to see an increase in uniformed police patrols.
