Thousands of cases were heard at Northamptonshire's three criminal courts last year, with most dealt with by magistrates.
But cases involving a serious offence are heard by a crown court judge.

5. ALEXANDER BAILEY
The Corby paedophile failed in a last-minute bid to keep his identity a secret after downloading 5,000 sick child abuse images. He was sentenced to a community order.
6. LEANNE JONES
The heartless healthcare assistant burgled the homes of patients she was supposed to be looking after at Corby Community Hospital. She was jailed for just over three years.
7. GRACE KEENOO
Keenoo and her boyfriend Jack Belton were caught with handguns at their Barton Seagrave home. Keenoo was jailed for nine months and released because of time spent on remand. Belton got 18 months.
8. MICHAEL READER
The evil murderer spent months stalking his estranged wife before shooting her in cold blood in Earls Barton. He was jailed for life with a minimum of 31 years. His best mate Stephen Welch was also convicted of murder for his role in the plot.
