Young people and families in West Northamptonshire offered safe space to talk about alcohol and drugs

Young people and families concerned about alcohol or drug use are being invited to a free drop-in event in West Northamptonshire.

Inspire Young People, the commissioned drug and alcohol service for the area, will hold the event at Brackley Medical Centre on Monday, September 21, from 6pm to 8pm.

Organisers say it will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where young people and their families can discuss alcohol and drugs or seek support over a young person’s substance use.

An information stall will be available in the medical centre’s main waiting area, while a separate room will allow people to have confidential conversations with the team.

Councillor Laura Couse, cabinet member for adult social care and public health at West Northamptonshire Council, said: “Starting a conversation about alcohol or drug use can be difficult.

“This event offers a safe and supportive space where young people and their families can speak confidentially, get practical advice, or simply find out what help is available.”

Andrea Knowles, senior operations manager at Inspire, said the organisation wanted to ensure its services were accessible to everyone in the community.

She added: “This drop-in event is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to meet the team, find out more about the support we offer, and let us know what matters most to them.”

More information is available through the Inspire website.
