Superheroes, cosplay and movie magic return to Northampton this weekend
Superheroes, princesses, movie characters and hundreds of cosplayers are set to descend on Northampton this weekend as the town’s family Comic Con returns.
Northampton Comic Con will take over Benham Sports Centre on Sunday, September 13, bringing together families, film and TV fans, cosplayers, independent traders and community groups for a packed day of entertainment.
The event is organised by Bolt Events, which specialises in family-friendly Comic Cons with a focus on making the experience affordable, inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
Bolt last brought its Comic Con to Northampton in February, when the colourful event attracted the attention of ITV Anglia, who came along to film the costumes, characters and excitement.
Now the team is returning for its second Northampton event of 2026 – and organisers are hoping to create an even bigger day for local families.
Visitors can expect character appearances, cosplay groups, retro gaming, movie props and displays, photo opportunities, independent traders and activities throughout the day.
There will also be the hugely popular costume competitions, giving everyone from the tiniest superheroes to experienced adult cosplayers the chance to take to the stage.
Bolt Events owner Zoe Crofts said: “Northampton gave us such a fantastic welcome when we visited earlier this year, so we’re really excited to be coming back.
“Bolt has always been about much more than simply putting on a Comic Con. I wanted to create events where families can spend the whole day together, get involved, take photographs, meet characters and make memories without having to continually put their hands in their pockets once they are through the doors.
“One of my favourite things is seeing someone arrive feeling a little nervous in their costume and then realising they are surrounded by people who love exactly the same things they do. There really is a place for everyone at Comic Con.”
The event is designed for seasoned Comic Con fans and complete newcomers alike, with visitors encouraged to dress up if they wish – although costumes are certainly not compulsory.
Independent traders will also fill the venue with collectibles, artwork, handmade creations, toys, gifts and plenty of geeky treasures.
Zoe added:
“We have babies and toddlers coming along with their parents, teenagers who absolutely live for cosplay and adults who have loved these characters for decades. That mix is what makes the atmosphere so special.
“You don’t have to know anything about Comic Con to come along. Just bring the family, be yourself and have fun.”
Northampton Comic Con takes place at Benham Sports Centre on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 10am until 4pm.
