Discover The Duke's Magical Maze & Menagerie at Boughton House This Halloween
Mythical creatures, magical riddles and outdoor adventure await in a brand-new family experience inspired by Boughton's history and legends
This October half term, families are invited to embark on an enchanting outdoor adventure at Boughton House with the return of The Duke's Magical Maze & Menagerie.
Set within the stunning landscape of the Boughton estate, this immersive family trail combines storytelling, exploration and games to create a Halloween experience that offers far more than the traditional pumpkin patch.
Rather than focusing on spooky scares, The Duke's Magical Maze & Menagerie celebrates curiosity, exploration and the magic of the natural world.
Inspired by the real life history and pranks of John, the 2nd Duke of Montagu and his lions at Boughton the adventure invites children and their families to become guardians of nature as they follow a magical trail through the grounds. Along the way, participants will uncover mythical creatures, solve riddles and complete challenges designed to bring the estate's stories and surroundings to life.
Beginning their journey in the Stableyard, young adventurers will collect a magical activity booklet before setting off to explore the estate. Guided by clues left by the Duke, they must work their way through a series of puzzles and challenges, testing their skills and knowledge to prove they have what it takes to become a Master Protector of Nature.
"We wanted to create a Halloween experience that encourages families to get outdoors, explore the landscape and immerse themselves in a story inspired by the character and history of Boughton," said Charles Lister, property manager. "The Duke's Magical Maze & Menagerie combines adventure, discovery and imagination to create a memorable day out for children and adults alike."
The fun doesn't stop once the final clue has been solved.
After completing the trail, families are invited to return to the Courtyard where every child can use their voucher to select a pumpkin to take home .Visitors can continue the adventure with additional games and activities, browse seasonal gifts and treats, or relax with refreshments in the Tearoom.
The event has been designed as a complete autumn day out, offering families the opportunity to enjoy Boughton's beautiful grounds while making lasting Halloween memories together.
Combining outdoor play, immersive storytelling and interactive challenges, the event encourages children to engage with the landscape around them while uncovering the secrets, legends and characters inspired by Boughton's heritage.
Whether they're deciphering the Duke's riddles, hunting for clues among the trees or claiming their pumpkin reward at the finish line, young visitors will find plenty to spark their imagination throughout the journey.
The Duke's Magical Maze & Menagerie runs from 24 to 31 October, with daily arrival slots available from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
Tickets purchased in advance online are £12 per child and include entry to the trail, two free accompanying adults, and a £3 redeemable token towards a pumpkin.
